Friendzy Friday with Patti!

Crafters Workshop Templates

Have you ever wondered how to get those brads lined up ‘just so’ or perhaps you love a particular shape but can’t draw it if your life depended on it! I know, I’ve been there!

Look no further – I’ve found the answer and it is as simple as adding a few of the Crafter’s Workshop Templates to your Scrapbooking tool collection and Voila you have a versatile ‘embellishment maker’ at the tip of your fingers.

The templates come in different sizes depending on your needs – 6x6 or 12x12. Here is a layout I completed using the above 6x6 ORCHID template.

I traced and cut out my desired pattern and added a few brads and glimmer mist for the look I was trying to achieve.

I used the Cosmo 12x12 Template here to achieve a semi circle of matching brads around the bottom of my photo.

These are just a few ways to use the Crafter’s Workshop Templates. They are so versatile and can be used as much or as little as you want on your projects.

Experiment, have fun. Remember there are NO rules.

Happy Scrappin!

Friendzy Friday with Laura

Ribbon + Buttons = Flowers

1. For a ruffled flower, run a basting stitch along one side of a 6” - 8” length of ribbon or lace, leaving a tail of thread at the beginning of the length of ribbon.

Pull both ends of thread and tie a knot to create a ribbon ruffle.

Secure a button to the top of the ruffle with a glue dot.

2. For a funkier, more mod flower. Cut ribbon or twill into four 3” strips, and layer one over the other in a criss-cross pattern.

Secure in the centre with a couple of stitches, to hold the ribbons in place.

Add a button to the top with a glue dot. Add some inking if desired.

Scrapper's Island Tribal Council

Photobucket

Hello Friends! We have had our Scrapper's Island challenge contest going in our forum for the last 2 weeks. Thirty wonderful scrapbookers signed up for the challenge and they have been having a blast! Our layout gallery has been filling with all their creations and lots of our friends have stopped in to leave a little 'love' and encourage them along.

This is the first week that we are holding a formal Tribal Council. We need all the members of our forum to help us out with this task. Voting has been opened up and will run today from 8am - 6pm. Here is how it works:

Members of our forum can vote for the participant that has out cropped, out scrapped and out created their fellow island mates on Scrapper's Island.

Scrapper's Island is not only a challenge, but it is a contest. At no time do we want anyone to feel as though we are judging their creativity in a negative way. Some participants will stay on the island and others will move over to Exile Island (it's not so bad over here). Our goal, no matter where you are in this contest, is for everyone to enjoy the experience, the process and make some new friends along the way.

The voting will take place every Thursday from 8am - 6pm. It will be done electronically. Participants can not vote, but all other members of the forum and Exile Island are welcome! Only one vote per member is allowed. As voters, we encourage you to visit our layout gallery often and leave comments of encouragement for everyone participating. It is a fast and easy process and it is greatly appreciated by our hard working participants.

The first thing you want to do is visit our Layout Gallery. There is a section along the left side that says 'Scrapper's Island - week 2'. That is where all the layouts have been uploaded.

Voting is done electronically and is really easy to do. Login to our forum and head to the Tribal Council section. Click on the 'announcement' at the top that says Tribal Council - week 2. You can read through the details and there is a link at the bottom that will link you to the voting. Answer the questions and that is it!

All participants that are moving on to the next week will be posted in the challenge section under 'week 2 challenges'. Be sure to check the list. Two people will be joining us on Exile Island.

Good luck to everyone.

Beacon's 3-In-1 Advanced Craft Glue is now available at Two Scrapbook Friends! This is one excellent glue with three convenient features......crystal clear, instant grab and fast drying. It is made by the same company as ZipDry!

One of the fastest selling items in our store right now is this Ink Blending Tool from Ranger. As fast as UPS brings them to our back door, they seem to walk right out our front door. We just received another huge shipment of them, so if you have been waiting for one, now is the time to visit the store!

Another popular item are these yummy scalloped die-cut papers from Jenni Bowlin. There are 18 papers in a package and you get 3 of each colour. They measure 4x4 inches so they are perfect for journaling or a simple accent on your page.

Jenni Bowlin Bingo Cards

We have stocked the bingo cards from Jenni Bowlin since they have been released and they sell out very fast. We recently received another shipment of the 5x7 size and the mini cards that are 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches. The are now available in brown, black and the new birthday themed series.

Here is an idea that I found online that shows one of the mini size bingo cards on a card.

Stop in and pick up your set before they are gone again. They make great additions to cards and layouts.

Make it & Take It Update!

In one week it will be Father's Day! Today at the store we had a Make It & Take It project to create a wonderful 'wallet' card.

The store was busy all day with many of our friends taking this opportunity to make a special card for dad! We sold out of all our prepared kits and we were frantically making more all day long.

We know that it was not possible for everyone to make it into the store and we had lots of requests for kits. We have a bit of product leftover and we are going to make kits available while supplies last. Kits will sell for $6 and they include photos and instructions. The stamping will be done for you. The only special item you would need is a white gel pen for the faux stitching.

If you wish to order a kit, please contact the store and we will reserve one for you. We will only be taking orders until Tuesday, June 16th at 5pm. All kits will be available for pick up on Wednesday, June 17th.

You can email us or call us at 519-746-6672!

Friendzy Friday With Shelby!

Using up Leftover Alphas

We all have them, odd alphabet stickers from previous projects. Don't hide them away in your stash, get 'em out and use them!

Here are a few ideas and tips to clear out the leftovers

Visit wordbuilding websites such as www.morewords.com or www.anagrammer.com and load in your remaining letters.

A list will appear of your options, keep this list with your stickers for easy reference.

Combine different fonts to create unique titles. Use alphas on cards or as monograms

Use numbers and letters as frames/borders on school or birthday themed layouts.

I completed 4 projects from the letters I had left, now go and see what you can do to clear out old alphas and make way for new ones!

This is a great idea! Thanks Shelby. I learned something too.

Shelby has offered to give away the Family layout and the card. Leave us a comment and you will be entered in a random draw. Two winners will be announced on Monday, one for each project!

New Tools From We R Memory Keepers!

We R Memory Keepers had brought us many popular tools in the past. At the last trade show I went to they launched a number of new items. We have finally received our shipment and here are some of the goodies that arrived.

This is the new Corner Chomper. It is a corner rounder that will cut regular paper, chipboard, leather, plastic, acrylic/poly and more. It rounds in 2 sizes...1/2 inch and 1/4 inch.

Here is a short video to show you how it works.

They also released the Ultimate Trimmer. It is a magnetic ruler with a twist blade. You use it along with the magnetic mat and it has add on blades that have a curvy cut or a perforated cut. The magnetic mat is also great for holding projects in place while you are working on them (using the magnetic posts).

Here is a short video that shows how easy this trimmer is to use.

One of the best things that we just received in is the Magnetic Circle Cutter. You also use this witht he magnetic mat. It cuts 4-12 inch circles perfectly. It is one of the easiest systems I have seen in a while. Sorry, no video for the circle cutter.

Friendzy Friday with Karan

Diecut Papers

While I was in the store yesterday, I was talking with a couple customers (Brenda and Linda) and they were looking for ideas for all the die-cut papers that the manufacturers are coming out with. These awesome shaped papers can be used just the way they are, or they can be cut in half or quarters and used on your layouts.

They are also great for making cards. I am going to use one from the new Breaking Free line by My Minds Eye.

I gathered all my supplies including some cardstock, a trimmer, flowers (because I never do anything without flowers), bling, and some white Liquid Pearls.

I want my card to be 5.5 inches in height and I want the tip to be the center of my card. I measured 2 3/4 inches on each side of the point and then cut the excess off.

Fold the card in 1/2, matching the points and edges.

I used a 3 inch and 3 1/2 inch large scallop circle punch and the fiskars border punch on the cardstock. I added a button to my Bazzill flower and assembled the card.

The inside of the card had the manufactures code and bar code, so I covered it up with the strip I cut off earlier and created a pocket.

Here is what the card looks like when its all done.

Here is the inside view.....

Here is another card I created using a die-cut paper from the Captivating line of Pink Paislee. I'm sure if you view our gallery, you will see many unique and interesting ways to use these awesome shaped papers....

We hope you enjoyed this helpful technique. Leave us a comment and you will be entered into a random draw to win the card that Karan made using the Breaking Free collection. The winner will be announced on Monday, June 8th.

Make it & Take it Father's Day Card

Our make it & take it projects have been a super big hit and we just love doing them. June is the month that we celebrate Father's Day! We have a really unique Father's Day card for you to drop in and make. He is going to treasure this for a long time......guaranteed.

It is a wallet/card! This is the most amazing idea ever. I can't take credit for the idea, but we did change it up and made it Two Scrapbook Friends style. You will have the opportunity to do some faux stitching and some stamping too.

You will stamp on the front and the inside of the wallet and it will say 'I love you Dad'! There is room for a family or individual photo, as well as a pocket for a gift card. The wallet opens up if you would like to put a special note, money or coupons that he can cash in for special favours.

When my kids saw this they were all fighting over it. I think we will be making 3 of them in our house.

So.......now for the details! We will be holding our make it & take it day on Saturday, June 13th from 10:30am -4:30pm. The cost will be only $4. This project is not sold as a kit, but you are welcome to purchase extras once you have completed it.

We hope you can join us for another fun make it & take it project!

Introducing Our New Design Team!

Starting in July we will move forward with our new Two Scrapbook Friends Design Team! We are very excited about the next 6 months. We have a lot of plans and a very enthusiastic group of ladies. Let us introduce them to you!

You all know Karan, she is our design team coordinator (well, she is more than that, but for this blog post that is her title).

Not only does Karan contribute amazing layouts and projects each month, but she also does a great job of putting together the Design Team kits, communicating with the team, and oversees many of the events that will be coming up......including Scrapper's Island.

We appreciate everything she does. A big thank you to you Karan!

We are very pleased to have Patti McCarthy return for a second term. She also contributes amazing designs each month and has introduced our scrapbook friends to many new products over the last 6 months.

She is a huge force behind our online forum with daily posting and lots of fun games, questions and ideas.

A big hug goes all the way to Alberta for everything you do! We appreciate all your efforts and so do our customers.

Laura will also be returning for a second term with us and we are thrilled to have her back. Her very creative style is a very welcome addition to our team.

Laura is very active on our forum and helps out regularly with our Friendzy Fridays. She contributed some amazing challenges during National Scrapbook Week and is always very supportive .

We appreciate all you do to help us out and we are glad to have you stay on as part of our team.

We had quite a few applications to consider and it was not an easy job to narrow down the choices. But, we are delighted to announce that Corrina Colquhoun (right) and Shelby Koehler (left) will be joining our Design Team for the next term!

These two ladies are both very talented and enthusiastic and we know they will make a great addition to our team!

Congratulations to our new team! You can view their biographies on our website and be sure to welcome them when you have a chance!
